Method
- Step 1: Grind the whole coffee beans to a very coarse consistency. You want the grounds chunky like heavy sea salt.
- Step 2: Place the coarsely ground coffee into your large glass mason jar.
- Step 3: Pour the pure filtered water directly over the coffee grounds.
- Step 4: Stir the mixture gently to ensure all grounds are fully saturated.
- Step 5: Cover the large glass jar tightly with a secure lid.
- Step 6: Let it sit on your kitchen counter at room temperature. Allow the dark mixture to steep quietly for 16 hours.
- Step 7: Place a fine mesh sieve over a clean glass pitcher. Line the metal sieve with a fresh paper coffee filter.
- Step 8: Pour the steeped coffee mixture slowly through the lined filter. Discard the used coffee grounds in your compost bin immediately.
- Step 9: Transfer your smooth cold brew coffee concentrate to a clean jar. Store the sealed jar in your refrigerator for two weeks.
